CVC's Charter Perks - Helpful Information
Cedar Valley Cyclists RAGBRAI Charter Registration
Thank you for your interest in our RAGBRAI Charter.
Our charter begins July 18th, 2009 in Waterloo, IA. We will have 2 charter buses that will leave that morning for the starting town. All of the bikes will have there pedals removed and will be put on our Budget trucks. Please bring a moving blanket to cover your bike. If you don't think it matters if you have one, it does because your bike will be beside someone else's bike and they will think it matters if your bike is covered. You can also box your bike if you are traveling from out of town or want your bike protected more than a moving blanket can provide. After the charter bus and Budget trucks are loaded, we head to the start town. We stop for lunch somewhere along the way. After we arrive at the start town, everyone unloads the baggage from the buses and bikes from the trucks. We usually setup camp wherever the town's camping committee assigns us. Every morning you have to load your baggage on the trucks or it will be left behind. After you arrive in the next overnight town, you will follow our arrows to the campsite. You can pay the truck drivers to setup your tent or you can set it up yourself. Our campsite is typically easy to find when the campground committee lets us know where we will be setup for the night. We provide a canopy to get out of the sun and rain. We have lots of chairs to sit in and our coolers have ice cold beverages for sale. Each morning we will have a coffee of the day starting bright and early. At the end of the week we load the bikes on the Budget truck and bags on the buses and return to Waterloo. We usually stop for food on the way home too.
